Birthdate: Each 27th of July I memorialize being the 3rd of 4 children born to Phil and Catherine Dougherty.  Annually on January 25th I praise Jesus that I was born into His family.

Family info: My wife Debbie and I were married in her home town, Sterling, Colorado, on January 31, 1970.  On that day, certainly, we had no idea that our union would foster 4 children and 14 grandchildren.  Renee (Pratt) is our oldest. She and her husband Dale are actively involved in the life and ministry of Christ Community.  The Pratt’s alone account for 10 of our 14 grandchildren!!!  Ryan, Executive Director of the Greeley Youth for Christ chapter, and his wife Trina have two sons.  David, our younger son, and his wife Angie have a daughter and son and are active at CCC.  Our younger daughter, Charis, lives in Greeley and attends Aims Community College.  All of this means that when the entire Dougherty clan gets together--all 23--it can get, shall we say, "Raucous?"

My ministry: While every aspect of my life is an extension of the ministry Jesus has given me, my role at Christ Community involves being our Small Groups Ministry Coordinator.   I oversee the process of helping people get connected in a group that's a good fit for them and where they can grow.

Few people know:   I was born in Leadville, Colorado and graduated from high school there.  Moreover few know that at the top of Freemont Pass, there was actually a town of more than 2,000 residents called Climax.  I lived there for a time.  I also lived in a town between, what is now, Copper Mountain and Climax known as Kokomo, Colorado.  Kokomo had less than 100 residents and was quite primitive (no X-Box 3’s to be sure).  However, I greatly appreciate my formative years in Climax, Kokomo, and Leadville.  I have a huge heart for those who minister the gospel in pioneer areas.  Each summer teams of youth workers would come to Kokomo and conduct Vacation Bible School.  Their service was foundational in my coming to know the Lord Jesus personally, although full surrender to Him came later in life for me.

Favorite food: My father, among other things, was an accomplished restaurateur. He built and operated the Kokomo Bar and Steak House, Snow Valley Inn (now known as The Prospector), and Silver King Inn.  His specialty was steaks, but my staple was a juicy cheeseburger deluxe with fries and a coke.  Today, I will almost always order a cheeseburger deluxe whenever possible. I have, however, substituted the coke for one of the diet variety and usually ask for coleslaw in lieu of fries.

Favorite verse: To choose just one verse is more difficult than to choose a favored grand child.  My life objective is...  "In that day when I know as I am known, there be no surprises." Of course this is based on 1st Corinthians 13:12, "For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face; now I know in part, but then I will know just as I also have been fully known," NASB.  Because I fully committed myself to Christ relatively late in life (27), God has promised me ..." Then I will make up to you for the years that the swarming locust has eaten, the creeping locust, the stripping  locust and the gnawing locust, My great army which I sent among you," Joel 2:25 NASB. It is amazing how often I return and reclaim that verse.  Isn't He good?
