MARRIAGE MINISTRY TEAM:
The Marriage Ministry Team takes experienced, seasoned, relatively happy couples and connects them with less experienced couples in a variety of ways. Our goal is that they would provide practical help and spiritual support in navigating the journey that we call marriage. People involved in Marriage Ministry are just ordinary, committed couples who are excited about marriage and wanting to help others experience all that marriage can be. We are looking for people to serve in four areas:
1) People who would love to support our Marriage Ministry in prayer in a variety of ways.
2) People who have a heart for marriage and want to train as mentors. The Marriage Mentoring Ministry consists of three tracks: The Prepare Track is mentoring for engaged or newlywed couples who want to build a solid foundation for their marriage. The Maximize Track is mentoring for couples who have a stable, good marriage but would like to enrich their relationship. The Repair Track is for couples who are experiencing distress in their relationship whether from an unexpected event or an ongoing situation. We are open to talking with prospective mentors for one or more of these tracks.
3) People who are interested in facilitating a short term marriage class such as Love and Respect.
4) People who would like to serve as host couples for Marriage Retreats at the Invincible Lodge in Idaho Springs. This would involve providing behind-the-scenes support, hospitality and meal preparation/serving/clean-up.
If you would like to be part of our Marriage Ministry Team in some way, or would like to know more, please contact Sue at sardkr@juno.com or 330-4001.
ALPHA GROUP TABLE LEADER:
Alpha is an opportunity to explore the meaning of life in a relaxed, friendly setting. The Alpha course includes ten meals and an amazing one-day or weekend getaway at the YMCA of the Rockies in Estes Park. At Christ Community, Alpha meets three times each year, once per week. Each session, people enjoy great food, laughter and learning in a fun and friendly atmosphere where no question about life or God is seen as too simple or too hostile…questions like—Is there a God? Why am I here? Where did I come from? Where am I going? We are looking for men and women who can create a safe and friendly environment around each table for people to ask questions, consider the claims of Christ, experience the love of God and grow in their faith. Contact: Larry or Janis Pottorff: 330-7276 / pottorff5@msn.com.
MEN'S FAITH IN ACTION TEAMS:
Faith in Action is a team-based ministry led by the men of Christ Community to people with long-term practical needs in the Christ Community family and community ... such as widows, the elderly, the disabled and single parents. Teams of 4-5 men serve an assigned care-receiver by working around their house one Saturday morning a month for 3 hours. Each month's service begins with a light breakfast and short Bible study at church before heading out. Contact: Bob Giertz at 353-1057 / bob_giertz@msn.com. ADULT ESL TEACHERS:
Greeley truly is an international city with people from Latin America, East Africa, Central and Southeast Asia, and the Middle East. Many relocate to Greeley without knowing the English language. Christ Community hosts two 15-week long sessions every year free of cost. It's more than just teaching the English language to the people that come. It's about caring for the people and the needs where they are and helping them understand the community they are living in here. It would involve serving one or two times per week for two hours each time. Contact: Katy Acosta at 515-5356 / k_acosta@comcast.net.
FAITH COMMUNITY SERVICE FUND FAMILY VOLUNTEERS:
Those who serve in this way with Faith Community Service Fund (an extension ministry of Christ Community in partnership with a variety of other area churches) interview prospective families in the community in need of emergency assistance for two hours per week. Contact: Sue at vols@faithnet.info or 584-4694. Or you may click here to learn about other volunteer opportunities in the community with Faith Community Service Fund.
