My Story:
As transplanted Texans, Martin and I arrived in Colorado as soon as we could with our puppy, Tuggles! He is our entertainment and companion! Our joy and challenge was raising our three children … Andy, Emily and Michael. We are blessed by their marriages to our children-in-law … Kristy, Daniel and Erika. The role that we currently cherish is that of Pops and Grandmother KK to Westin, Reid and Savannah and one to come in November 2010! The boys live in Dallas and Houston … Emily is in Tennessee!
At Christ Community, I serve as the Hostess in the Front Office and as Facilities Coordinator for the 15th Street Campus. I am the voice on the phone when you call the church office … and I do still speak Texan. My work history includes time that I served at Dallas Seminary, as well as over twenty years as the bookkeeper for Melonie Park Church in Lubbock, TX.
Our move to Colorado, in February 2008, was precipitated by a desire to follow the Lord’s leading in continuing a hospitality ministry that we have hosted in our home for over twenty years. We welcome missionaries, people in ministry and life, who need a place to rest, recover or readjust to life and the USA. Initially, Martin and I responded to needs that our church missions committee had for housing for furloughed missionaries. We also hosted nationals from mission fields where our church was serving. The resulting opportunities grew to where we had others living in our home nearly full time. As Colorado continues to serve as a home base to many mission agencies, we sensed that the Lord was leading us to make the move here. We are experiencing life lessons in waiting and trusting on the God who reigns! Although our desire and passion remains, Martin went over two years without employment which has delayed us in having a home to share. Martin is now serving as financial manager for Loodles Coffee Shop and www.markludy.com in Windsor, Colorado! It is a creative and inspiring place to work. It is also a fun place to visit and enjoy your favorite coffee, tea or hot chocolate! We continue to seek the Lord’s path for our service to Him.
In my life, I have worn many “hats”! Other than my very favorite roles of wife and mom, I love to cook, garden, sing, hang with family and friends, receive a foot massage, nap, and observe nature … especially sitting near a rushing mountain stream! I am a beginner at quilting and dreamer of many crafting activities. I love to “nest” … my home is my comfort zone and place of ministry. I am a Texas Tech Red Raider and a Texas A&M Aggiemom, Class of ’05.
Because I love to cook, I also love to eat! My fondest tastes are shrimp, avocado, potatoes, pecans, soft cheeses, licorice jelly beans and Blue Bell Ice Cream … an original taste of Texas! My desire is to remain teachable … a “kid under construction”!
My favorite verses include all of Psalm 139 and Philippians 4:8-9 … Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things. The things you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.
