Exploring the Christian Faith

/files/Images/Adult Ministries/Where Are You.JPG

Picture yourself walking into a large shopping mall that you’ve never visited.  What’s the first thing you often look for (other than the Starbucks)?  The Directory.  And then what do you do?  When you find it, you search all of the diagrams and numbers until you see the big red "X" that says, “You Are Here”.

Why do you do this?  Because you want to figure out where you are in light of the big picture before you can take off for where you want to be.

It’s the same with our understanding of the Christian faith and our spiritual journey.   If we're not quite sure about things, we could benefit from a simple explanation of the big story so we can be honest about where we are and where we want to go from there.

Here's a simple, three-minute video explanation of "the big story" of the Christian faith*.  It's designed to give you a basic understanding of things so you can think about where you are, and what might be your next step.  Or perhaps where you'd like some help or to engage in dialog.   Go ahead and watch it now ...

So, where are you?   Each of us experiences a unique journey in our approach to the Christian faith and in our response to Christ as our Savior.   And that's okay!

If we can provide you with support, encouragement and resources in this journey, please let us know.  There are actually three things we'd like to suggest ...

1.  The Prodigal God/files/Images/Adult Ministries/Prodigal God.jpg

The Prodigal God: Recovering the Heart of the Christian Faith, by Timothy Keller, is a great little book that unconvers the essential message of Christianity by unpacking one of Jesus' most familiar stories.  This easy-reading book helps readers re-think some of their assumptions about the Christian faith, and how much God really loves them.  In the process it reveals an unexpected message of hope and encouragement for skeptics and those who think they have Christianity and Christians all figured out.   Actually ... this book is also a great read for long-time Christians who think they have Christianity all figured out!   It's also available on CD as an audio book.

2.  The Alpha Course/files/Images/Adult Ministries/Roots Graphics/Alpha Clear Background.png

The Alpha Course is a class for spiritual seekers, new believers, the spiritually curious, and those who are looking to take the next step, no matter where they are on their spiritual journey.   Alpha provides an overview of the basic beliefs of Christianity, is offered three times a year, and extends a safe and welcoming environment in which to explore.  Click here to find out more about the Alpha Course and to sign up.

3.  A Personal Connection /files/Images/Adult Ministries/Conversation.jpg
